Guttering, Fascias and Soffits in Knowle

Gutters that overflow, joints that drip, fascias gone soft. On a hill where a heavy shower comes down the street rather than soaking in, the roofline earns its keep.

What we do

Roofline work around Knowle

Gutter clearing

Leaves, moss and silt from tiles build up until the gutter overflows down the wall. We clear gutters and downpipes and check they flow.

Gutter repairs and realignment

Leaking joints, broken brackets and gutters that have dropped so water pools at one end instead of reaching the outlet.

New guttering

Replacement uPVC or cast-effect systems in a profile that suits the house, sized to carry the water off the roof above it.

Fascias and soffits

Rotten timber fascias are replaced or capped, and soffits renewed. Fascias carry the gutters and support the bottom edge of the roof, so they need to be sound.

Downpipes and outlets

Cracked or disconnected downpipes soak brickwork. We repair or replace them and make sure they discharge where they should.

Bargeboards and verges

The boards along the gable ends and the tiles above them take the weather side-on. Loose verge tiles are a common wind casualty.

Worth knowing

Why roofline problems matter

Overflow damages walls

Water pouring down brickwork can lead to damp patches inside and frost damage outside. A gutter that overflows in every heavy shower is worth sorting.

Rain here can be heavy

The Met Office puts annual rainfall in the Bath and Bristol area at around 800 to 900 mm, and notes that rainfall follows the shape of the land. Gutters need to cope with a downpour, not just a drizzle.

Fascia rot spreads

A soft fascia often means water has been getting behind the gutter for a while. We check the rafter ends while we are there.

Look at the roof too

Gutters full of tile grit or moss can be a sign of wear on the roof above. We will mention it if we see it.

Questions

Guttering FAQs

How often should gutters be cleared?

It depends on trees nearby. Houses close to parks and mature trees usually need it more often. Once a year is a sensible minimum.

Can you replace fascias without replacing gutters?

Usually the gutters come off to replace the fascia, so it is often worth renewing both together. We will price it either way.

Do you do one-off gutter jobs?

Yes. No job is too small to ring about.

Are new gutters and fascias guaranteed?

Yes. See our guarantee.
